'Beacons' 2011

This year's event was held on Saturday 22 October and celebrated its 5th appearance on the site.  The event started at 5pm, with fire jugglers entertaining the waiting crowd, and younger members of the audience searching for eggs and stars hidden in the woods.  The crowd then followed the sound of the drum beat into the woods, which was magically decorated and musicians played.  At the viewpoint, children performed songs and stories and Shonaleigh set the scene for the rest of the night.

The crowd was then split into two and followed either Lord Fox or the Crow by firetorchlight and were entertained by further storytelling in the woods as the sun set. After dark, they joined back together and the whole audience were treated to a spectacular performance of music, dance and fire, finally heading home down a lantern-lit pathway.

And what happened to the eggs and stars that were found?  Well, they were exchanged for gifts at the end of the night.
